Cristal's Wish

Cristal is a bubbly, outgoing 11-year-old girl who continues to maintain a child's joy for life despite her diagnosis of leukemia. Her frequent treatments have left her exhausted, so Cristal decided not to wish for a travel wish, but instead for something she could treasure at home. Cristal decided that a computer would be the very best wish of all, bringing her the most happiness for the longest time to come.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York arranged for a fantastic new PC to be delivered to her home, and while Cristal looked on beaming, the magic of her wish unfolded. Along with her computer came all the trimmings: a computer desk and chair, scanner and printer. Cristal, who loves school and also loves playing games on her cousin's and school's computers, said "I was so excited when they came with the computer. My mom and I were looking out my window the whole morning waiting for the computer to arrive."

Then, as a special surprise, Cristal was whisked away in a limousine to a computer store so she could complete her dream computer package. "Wow! It was so fancy and I felt like a movie star," Cristal exclaimed. When Cristal, her mother and cousin reached the store, Cristal's wish-granting volunteers greeted her and presented her with a gift certificate with which she could purchase games, accessories, software and anything else needed for the new computer.

Cristal knows that she has both good days and bad ones ahead, but has her very own new computer by her side to help her get through the "yucky" stuff. And for that, she is so thankful to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. "Tell them thank you for me!"
