Digital Pulp Builds Web Site for Soros.org
June 2004
New York, NY - Digital Pulp, a New York-based Web development firm, has completed the redesign of www.soros.org , the new web site for George Soros' Open Society Institute (OSI). The site provides information on all of the Open Society Institute's global efforts. The successful launch was completed this past week.
The new Soros.org is entirely dynamic, backed by a database and Content Management System (CMS) that allows content to be shared across every page of the site. Digital Pulp designed a new aesthetic that prominently features photographs that have been selected from OSI's archives or have been featured in one of OSI's photo exhibits over the years.
The OSI web site has been radically restructured and is now primarily organized around "initiatives," which are formal efforts set forth by OSI to support areas of work on a regional or network-wide basis. Initiatives include grant-making and operating programs, as well as fellowships and scholarships, and they are organized on the site by "issue" and "region." This new organization better communicates how OSI works and delivers a more contextual environment.
"The complexities of our organization demanded an objective perspective, and that's what Digital Pulp brought to the table," said Chipp Winston, Web Manager of the Open Society Institute. "Their strategic planning and information architecture has resulted in an environment that beautifully showcases the full scope of OSI work. And their customized CMS allows our global Web editors to easily collaborate and efficiently update the site."
Ron Fierman, President of Digital Pulp, added, "This site reflects Digital Pulp's core Web development skills - site strategy, information architecture, technology planning and implementation and user-centric design. The Open Society Institute allowed us to demonstrate our ability to create online presences that are both beautiful and powerful".
