Every time you connect to Wi-Fi, stream a movie, or charge your phone, you’re seeing IEEE at work. The world’s largest technical professional organization defines the standards behind technologies from energy grids to AI, robotics, and quantum computing. Now, it’s ready to reimagine its flagship site to grow membership and strengthen engagement.

Design Equal to the Influence

Redesigning IEEE’s flagship site meant building something with extraordinary reach: A platform for nearly half a million members, dozens of internal teams, and a global network of partners and collaborators.

IEEE partnered with Digital Pulp to bring everything together—a flexible platform built for dozens of stakeholders, and a digital experience that unifies its vast ecosystem into one clear, connected presence.

Blueprint for Intent

User intent shapes every part of the new site. Here's how that shows up across the experience.

  • Rework navigation around what people actually come for, e.g., standards, journals, events, membership, rather than internal departmental structure.
  • Design a page hierarchy that allows the most important content to rise to the top, with options to dive deeper for more information.
  • Make every page a starting point, with clear universal and on-page navigation that makes it easy to see where you are and where you want to go next.
  • Build a UX architecture that flexes, making it easy to add new content and audiences without compromising the experience.

Architecture that Greets You

One Message, Many Voices

A new content model brings clarity and cohesion to IEEE’s vast digital ecosystem, organizing research, stories and messaging into a unified narrative.

This model also elevates the people behind the work, spotlighting global voices and  IEEE’s collective impact.

IEEE and Digital Pulp collaborated on a new governance strategy to support this new approach, so the broader messaging stays clear and consistent over time.

IEEE connects technology and people in countless ways, and those stories were waiting to be told. The information was already there,  scattered across pages and sites in the ecosystem. We built a strategy to pull those narratives together and show the organization’s  breadth and impact.

Engineered for Global Scale

IEEE.org now runs on a back-end architecture built for scale. It supports millions of users worldwide, integrates with legacy systems, and gives teams  faster, cleaner publishing tools.

The system is wired for what’s next, ready to take on CMS upgrades, digital asset management, and audiences IEEE has yet to reach. This also proves that complexity doesn’t have to mean compromise. You can carry the weight of a global organization and still deliver a fast, seamless experience that works.

A Transformative Collaboration

Digital Pulp partnered with IEEE's global teams to align strategy, engineer efficient solutions, and build crucial tools for site managers and contributors across the organization.

The final, polished design stands as a testament to transforming complex ecosystems into an intuitive experience.
